Formula 1 is a fascinating world, but it tends to be rather exclusive in its approach to the fans. They are left with little chance to meet and talk to people who are involved and to find out some of the things that are really going on, not just what is written in the media. In an effort to create a little more "social networking" in Formula 1 circles, I host a series of events each year, either at Grands Prix or in large cities where Formula 1 are in plentiful supply. The aim of these events is to have between 50 and 100 fans who can ask anything they like about the sport, over a drink or two. The relaxed atmosphere and the small numbers mean that everyone gets the chance and even those who are shy can ask me questions when we pause for a buffet dinner (which is included in the price) or indeed afterwards when the event is over. The Audience lasts for about four hours and in addition to the questions and answers there is also the chance to meet other fans.
The event is designed to be "a good night out" with food, drink, discussion and a convivial atmosphere. Talking about Formula 1 is my idea of fun and I hope to do that with as many of you as possible.
Watch out for announcements of future events near you. If you would like to propose an event, feel free to do so.
What the fans think:
"I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope there's another London one soon." - The Mink
"Just got back from the evening - which was absolutely excellent. Joe was on sparkling form and massively entertaining and at nearly three hours of talking, you certainly got your money's worth! Joe's answers to the audience's questions were always funny, insightful, and on many occasions highly revealing. There was time for a number of the people in the audience, including me, to ask multiple questions – which was wonderful. Whatever he was asked he had an entertaining view and, more to the point, a lot of insider evidence to support it." - Bostonracing
"Good fun. Very enjoyable evening indeed." - Leigh O'Gorman
"Great evening, thanks very much Joe for making my Dad’s 70th birthday present exactly what he wanted, a thoroughly engaging evening about F1." - Roy Knaggs
"It did indeed go very well - past 11 pm and there were still questions and much discussion." - Canehan
"Just wanted to say that we all had a wonderful evening. If Spa is an option then I’d not think twice about doing it again. Great to meet you and I look forward to delving into The Grand Prix Saboteurs." - Bassano
"A superb evening, with great stories and frank opinions. It just didn't seem long enough." - Gilles Villeneuve Fan
